Become a Scholastic News Reporter! "The Scholastic News Kids Press Corps is a group of talented young reporters, ages 10–14, from across the country. Their stories appear online at the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps website and in select issues of Scholastic classroom magazines, which reach more than 25 million students in classrooms nationwide." All applications must be postmarked by September 23, 2016.
National Geographic Student Expeditions: This program offers middle school students "opportunities to get out into the field and follow in the footsteps of National Geographic’s photographers, writers, and scientists." (Rolling applications)
PMS History Day Club: "History Day is a national program for students in grades 6-12 that encourages exploration of local, state, national, and world history. After selecting a historical topic that relates to an annual theme, students conduct extensive research and analyze and interpret their findings to create final projects that demonstrate their work. The PMS History Day Club was founded in 2013 and competed for the first time at the 2014 New Haven Regional Competition with five students and one team. Now in its fourth year, our Club's enrollment has doubled, and we invite any interested middle or high students to join! Visit Connecticut History Day and National History Day to learn more. The PMS team will compete in the a 2017 Regional History Day Contest in March 2017.
2016 Google Science Fair: This program is "a global online science and technology competition open to individuals and teams from ages 13 to 18. This year, we’re encouraging students all over the world to make something better with science. Maybe it’s making something slower or faster. Louder or larger.
